Tips:

  • press the tops of your feet into the mat and feel that your quadriceps are engaged
  • tuck your tailbone, which will feel as though you’re pressing your pubic bone into the floor
  • engage your core muscles, lifting the navel in and up
  • lift the chest and roll the shoulders down and back, keeping your neck long and elbows tucked in to your sides
  • if you feel pinching in your lower back, don’t come up as high
